NT Server and Workstation are both more secure than their antecedents, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Windows for Workgroups; there is broad consensus on this point. However, the comparisons of NT with Unix and NetWare are somewhat more controversial, with vocal proponents supporting each of these operating environments. In this section, we review some of the salient differences among the security implementations of these operating systems.
